Which events do admins receive email alerts?

We have a total of 5 site-level issues for which the events get generated on the Analytics > Events page, and for these events an email will be generated and sent to notify the site admins.  Below, we detail which specific event conditions will trigger an email to the admins.

AP restart

  • Site Events: The site events are generated for all AP’s reboot case.
  • Email Notification: The emails will be triggered to admins for all cases of AP reboots.

AP unreachable to the Mist Cloud

  • Site Events: The site events are generated for all AP’s if they are unreachable to the cloud.
  • Email Notification: The emails will be triggered to admins for all cases of AP unreachable to the cloud.

DNS server not responding to requests

  • Site Events: Whenever 2 or more clients are affected due to an unresponsive DNS server, an event will be generated on the Mist Portal.
  • Email Notification: The email notification in this case works in batches of 10 minutes. Whenever more than 10 clients are impacted due to a failing/unresponsive DNS server within a window of 10 minutes, an email will be triggered for this event.

DHCP server not responding to requests

  • Site Events: Whenever 2 or more clients are affected due to an unresponsive DHCP server, an event will be generated on the Mist Portal.
  • Email Notification: The email notification in this case also works in batches of 10 minutes. Whenever more than 10 clients are impacted due to a failing/unresponsive DHCP server within a window of 10 minutes, an email will be triggered for this event.

Reflection (Loop) Detection

  • Site Events: A site event will be generated for each time an AP detects a loop in the network.
  • Email Notification: Admins will get an email notification for each time an AP detects a loop in the network.

In addition to receiving emails for the above site-level events, admins will also receive recovery email notifications:

DNS server xx.xx.xx.xx Recovered

Whenever the DNS server becomes responsive again and the site events are marked as resolved, admins will get a DNS server recovery email.

DHCP server xx.xx.xx.xx Recovered

Whenever the DHCP server becomes responsive again and the site events are marked as resolved, admins will get a DHCP server recovery email.

Device Cloud Connectivity Recovered

Whenever an AP which was disconnected earlier gets reconnected to the cloud, the respective recovery email will be sent to the admins.
